Window blinds

Windows are great for providing natural light during the day, but what about privacy at night? That's where window blinds come in. Window blinds provide as much or as little of a covering for your windows that you want or need. There are many different types of window blinds available. They vary in style, material, and quality.

Window blinds come in many different styles.  The most common styles are roller blinds, horizontal blinds, and vertical blinds. Roller blinds give windows are very simple look.  The only time a roller blind doesn't work well for windows is when there are times you want to allow a partial amount of light into your home.  Roller blinds shade the area of the window they are over, and when rolled up, they allow full light to come in.  Horizontal blinds are probably the most common type of blind selected for the windows of a home. Horizontal blinds offer the advantage of allowing a partial amount of light into your rooms.  They can be opened to allow some light to come in without being raised. Vertical blinds work well for large windows and are commonly used for sliding glass doors.

There are many different materials used to make window blinds.  Some of the materials include cloth, plastic, and wood (this includes bamboo). Cloth covered window blinds look nice when used in a formal room. They are able to add a fancy look to your windows.  The biggest disadvantage to them is that they tend to hold onto dust more than the hard material window blinds. Plastic blinds are very popular and the most inexpensive type of window blind.  They come in many different colors.  Cleaning plastic window blinds is easy - wiping them with a damp cloth works well.  Wood window blinds are available left in the natural wood color, stained, or painted.  Wood window blinds are very versatile and look nice in any setting, whether casual or formal.

Much of the time, the quality of window blinds is reflected in price.  The better quality of window blinds you buy, the longer they will last. If you buy cheap window blinds, expect to replace them sooner than a better made window blind.  Just because a more durable window blind is more expensive doesn't mean that you have to pay top dollar for it.  Discount window blind stores often carry the same quality blind for a much better price.
